Articles for Penn State Greater Allegheny’s website

Below are a few links to articles that I wrote for the PSUGA website.  I have the opportunity to work with students from a class I teach and interns to help build content for the website, but with those articles I am more of an editor and don’t want to take credit for work that they put into their writing.  These articles are a sample of the writing I solely produced.

Penn State Greater Allegheny Summerfest 2018

Press Release

When asked to be a part of the planning committee for the inaugural Summerfest on Penn State Greater Allegheny’s (PSUGA) campus, I became determined to set a strong precedent.  I started with a logo design using Illustrator and chose to illustrate the skyline of Pittsburgh.  PSUGA is the only Penn State campus in Allegheny County and connecting the close proximity to the city of Pittsburgh remains a critical part in the strategic marketing plan.  Greater Allegheny is located in the city of McKeesport, which was voted one of the most dangerous cities in America and my goal was to make sure that the target audience of the press release would get the feeling of warmth, safety and that PSUGA was a welcoming campus for all.

 EverPower Wind Holdings

Newsletter2pt1

Workings as a Marketing/PR/Social Media intern with EverPower, I learned firsthand that marketing is a key component to the success in any industry.  When I began at EverPower I knew nothing about wind turbines, wind farms, or the development that goes into the success of alternative power sources.  I was given the task to design, write, and construct their bi-yearly newsletter.  I decided to use Adobe InDesign instead of the standard Microsoft Word, which was being used previously.  The newsletter turned out pretty good, for being the first one created through InDesign.  The letter from our CEO was not completed, by the time I finished the actual design, so using dummy text was a perfect way to display the final look, once that piece was completed.  I can only imagine I will continue to grow using this software and will make some visually appealing documents using Adobe software.

Big City. Little Stoop

When I moved to Pittsburgh and started a new journey in my professional and personal life, I wanted to begin documenting some of the experiences I was undertaking.  Coming up with the idea behind the title was something I came up with when I was still living in a small town and knew one day I would escape and move on to bigger and better things.  I began my journey into adulthood living in a very small house with what I thought was the tiniest stoop, but I have come to learn that wasn’t the case.  I still have hopes that I will continue working hard on this and making it what I envisioned.  To follow along and see what other antics I get myself into click here.
